Comprehensive Update on Blood and Marrow Transplantation

The BMT Tandem Meetings are the combined annual meetings of the CIBMTR and the ASBMT. Physicians with a clinical interest in blood and marrow transplantation and related investigations, laboratory technicians, clinical research professionals, pharmacists, nurses, data managers, BMT center administrators and other allied health professionals benefit from the full scientific program that addresses the timely issues in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation.

CIBMTR Working Committees

The CIBMTR Working Committees review the past year's research accomplishments, discuss current studies and set the scientific agenda for the coming year. Ways to get involved:

  • Review, approve and prioritize study proposals that will use CIBMTR data
  • Design and conduct observational studies that involve CIBMTR data, statistical resources and/or transplant centers
  • Assess and revise CIBMTR data collection forms
  • Encourage development of studies in under-researched areas
  • Encourage and support participation of new members
  • Plan and conduct workshops   

2018 Abstract Categories

More than 100 abstracts will be selected for oral presentations during the general scientific sessions and peripheral conferences. All other accepted abstracts will be assigned by topic to a poster presentation..


Two abstracts for oral presentation and six to eight for poster presentation may be accepted for presentation during the BMT Tandem Meetings, February 21-25, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Deadline for late breaking abstract submission was Monday, December 4, 2017. Notifications regarding selected abstracts will be distributed in late December.  To read more, click here.

Guidelines for Ancillary Meetings

BMT Tandem Meetings offers an ideal opportunity for supporting organizations to hold an ancillary meeting during the annual conference. Applications may be made by completing the BMT Tandem Meetings Ancillary Meeting Request Form no later than two weeks prior to the official start date of the BMT Tandem Meetings. Early requests are appreciated and are more likely to receive preferred space and time.

Celebrating 25 Proud Years of ASBMT at the 2018 BMT Tandem Meetings
Do you know what happens in 2018? The ASBMT will celebrate its 25th Anniversary! Drop by the ASBMT booth at the 2018 BMT Tandem Meetings to walk down memory lane and revisit all the accomplishments ASBMT has brought about since 1993. There will also be a plenary celebration which will include presentations about the Society’s beginnings, critical advances in clinical research and transplantation immunology, and a brief look into the future. Meet-the-Professor Sessions

Fellows and junior faculty have an opportunity for informal discussion with experts in BMT patient management. Each session will feature a case-based discussion led by internationally renowned authorities. Meet-the-Professor Sessions will be held on Wednesday through Saturday and be capped at a maximum of 25 attendees to keep sessions interactive. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at the Conference Registration Desk, subject to availability.

New this year: Meet-the-Professor Session tickets will now include a complimentary ticket to the BMT Tandem Reception.

Travel Grants 

ASBMT will present twenty (20) $500 travel grants to U.S./Canada-based fellows and two $750 travel grants to international fellows to attend the 2018 BMT Tandem Meetings. The deadline to apply was November 15, 2017.  For more information, click here.
